New Years eve - Kingston, Ontario

 I'm getting ready to welcome in 2014.  
 Last training in 2013 , was this afternoon  on my snow shoes - took quite a fall, shook me up.  but  i 'm home and okay .
Making supper , and will be  watching Times Square NYC  and Niagra Falls, Ontario - the count down  and the bands and stuff on TV. Go to Global TV Toronto to watch it. Global TV Toronto

Today's run was slow

I did a slow 4.83 K jog.  Happy to get home without falling.

The streets and roads are a mess, a combination of  ice, water and granular snow.  The Weather Network says "Present temp 2C  and  feels like minus 3, Overnight  dropping to -10".  This forecast  means more icy streets and roads.

My present goal is to  increase my  workout /run distances. As we are entering a January deep freeze for the next 2 weeks, I am thinking of getting in some swimming or stationary bike.. If we get a good  snow fall I will be out on my snow shoes and XC skis.

Have you tried Clif Bars? Clif Bar & Company
They are good. I like the soft bars best."crunchy peanut butter" and "white chocolate Macadamia "

Cross Training on Snow Shoes

warmed up a little today-3C. Weather channel is forecasting cold for the next 2 weeks. 
Sidewalks are not plowed.  Got out my snow shoes and walked over to Queens  west campus 
and did a good run and walk . Happy with my workout.  Nice to be out on the snow 
My snow shoes are Atlas and   designed for trails and hiking . - . 
Running snow shoes. might be a good investment.  .

Merry Christmas everyone

Christmas morning - update 
since my last post, we've experienced a major ice storm

Present temp. is -24 C.    Yes minus 24 Celsius. 
  
i did manage to get in a slow and cautious run last evening.  slow and careful run after the Ice Storm
 Hoping to run again this afternoon.  I have missed several consecutive days of training. 

Looking forward to a quiet Christmas dinner. its not turkey this year. cooking Parmesan Chicken breasts, Sauteeed Cherry Tomatoes, herbed wild rice and broccoli. with Wolf Blass Chardonnay , Strawberries (fresh from California)  and Christmas Fruit Cake. (store bought).

Janathon/ fire in my neighborhood/8.3K run\



What a day.
A major fire very close to where i live, a spectacular rescue by  helicopter from CFB Trenton.
lots of smoke.

Went out for my run and ran away from the Smoke.
did 8.3K - happy with my run . It was dark, but able to see from the  reflection of the snow.

No running today. Too cold for me.

December and itsCold


After a layoff – did my first run in over a week.
Weather Channel  December and its Cold

  A 5.84 run, Temperature:  -11C. Wore lots of layers. 
Happy with my run. Pace was slow but sure. 
Had to be careful due to icey patches on sidewalks.

Pleased with the run, the distance . Time was approx. 39 min. Time includes waits at traffic lights and street crossings.
