Juneathon Day 29

Slow month  for running and training. On the upside, I signed up for Juneathon and I have managed to post every day.  My training has dropped off.
I need to set definite goals.  If you are reading this post, check back later and  read about what I am up to.

Sunday June 28

28 days into Juneathon.
Not happy about the soccer game against England

Lousy morning - 14C and it has been raining. Decided  to skip Yoga...
Had a cafe latte at Starbucks in the afternoon.
No runs today.  I biked 10K.
Quiet evening at home.

Saturday June 27

Plan for today.
Watch Soccer, and errands,

Watching the Canada and England soccer game. The  girls got themselves 2 goals down. Keeping my fingers crossed they can score and win this.

England has won the game.
Disappointed.  I am not a good sport.
I  think the English coach is a jerk of the highest order.
And John Herdman, coach of Canadian women's team, is not worthy of coaching  the team and should be replaced.

Time to focus on  my comings and goings and business....

England and  Canada have moved into the quarter-final (Round of 8).   On Saturday they play each other in Vancouver. I am excited.
I was born in the Greater Manchester area. I have lived in Canada since I was 8 years old.

Training run in the late afternoon.  High humidity. 24C
Distance: 5.57k
Time: 36:14
Pace: 6:30

I am following the FIFA Women's Soccer. My favorites are Canada and England.
Both are considered underdogs. The US and Germany are considered  most likely to win.

Canada has advanced to the round of  16.
Hoping  England will qualify for the 16's. They play tomorrow against Columbia.

Started reading  "Down and Out in Paris and London"- (George Orwell) . Purchased the book last September.   Book  is mentioned in Bill Clinton's biography.  It is interesting and well-written.

I have  also added 1984 to my library. Got a second-hand edition in near mint condition at a library book sale.  The library sells off donated books and the proceeds go  to the library's fund.

Late night post.
I am one-third of the way thru Juneathon.
Today I  walked several km  and rode my bike 10k.

I have been reading Snow by Orhan Pamuk.  The book was awarded the  Nobel Prize in literature.
It has been a long read, two months and a couple of weeks. I found it to be a difficult book to get into.
The story takes place in Kars, Turkey. And  is very relevant to the present day issues with  Islam.
It is certainly worth checking out.

Tuesday Juneathon 9

I have tried  to post on a   Wordpress Blog. It is a running blog and linked to Juneathon. I use Blogger, and  I do not have a Wordpress account.   Very Frustrating that I am not allowed to post. ...

Watching the FIFA Soccer. Canada is the host country.  We won our first game, however, I don't think we are in contention. There are many good teams here. The US, and  Brazil, and  look to be very good teams.

I pushed hard on yesterday's run, and I am  still recovering. This afternoon I went for a slow  5k run...
